Since the first flicker of firelight, humans have been sharing stories about where to forage the best berries or avoid angry bears (probably). And while the reasons we do it may have changed, the effect is the same: our Heard Live storytelling events are a unique chance to warn, warm and understand one another.

WHAT HAPPENS AT HEARD LIVE?

Whether in person or online, our large or small scale events create a safe and welcoming place to tell true stories about yourself. There's a new theme every time and a few simple Heard house rules, but the rest is up to you.

It's also totally fine to enjoy a drink and listen, laugh and connect as other people take the mic. You can always find your own way to participate, from picking your favourite quote to grabbing a chat with the storyteller who moved you most.

WHAT ARE THE HEARD HOUSE RULES?

Quite simply, the stories must be 'lived, aloud and not too long'. That means it comes from your lived experience (a true story about you, not your mate's mate), be told out loud in the moment (not written down before), and take place in under six minutes. That's great if you're nervous - it's over really quickly - and great if you're an audience member, as shorter means more stories per session.

We also have some safeguarding guidelines to ensure that it remains inclusive and comfortable for everyone - but hopefully they're mostly common sense.
