RANDOM OBJECTS OF KINDNESS

Random Objects of Kindness had empathy and compassion at it’s core. Going beyond the surface, we explored the true stories and struggles of people who have been affected by homelessness.

The installation, launched on World Homelessness Day, featured 10 true stories, accessed through listeners mobile phones, accompanied by beautiful large-scale portraits.

The project was made possible thanks to Manchester Arndale shopping centre in support of Real Change Manchester.

We worked with 10 participants representing different homelessness organisations based in Manchester. Our team helped each person to identify a story about an item pivotal to their journey towards independent living. From the gift of a guitar and the transformative power of music to a birthday cake which offered a rare moment of celebration on the streets and became a powerful turning point, the audio recordings narrated by the participants themselves took listeners on personal and candid journeys.

The exhibition aimed to increase understanding of the different factors contributing to homelessness and highlight the importance of community support.
